When a tax return has been filed usually that is the last that is heard about it. The fact is that the IRS selects an extremely small percentage of tax returns for examination.

However for several reasons the IRS may contact you requesting more information. This maybe simply because figures entered on the return did not match those on the information returns that you received to things forgotten or omitted. Depending on which of these it is different letters are sent with instructions as to what is required. These letters MUST NOT be ignored, they were sent for a reason. How these letters are responded to will affect the way that the IRS treats you.

You have rights. For whatever the reason you received the letters the law requires the IRS to afford you the time respond to and handle these. In our handling of certain cases we have discovered lapses in correct procedure on the part of the IRS, according to the law, and exposed this.

Although these are triumphs achieved on behalf of those clients, all cases are different and unique just as every taxpayer. Everyone is unique and we will not allow the IRS to simply put you in a box simply as the result of a computer algorithm.

Remember you have rights. The IRS is tasked by congress to collect the "correct" amount of tax, but as a taxpayer you have the contitutional right not to pay more than you owe. We will look for errors both in reporting and in the returns filed and develop a strategy based on the full picture to present them with your case.
